MOTOR MAIDS INC

Image
The founding premise of the Motor Maids was to unite women motorcyclists in promoting motorcycle interest.  The initial Constitutional Article establishing the requirements for membership has remained the Motor Maid  hallmark since the first meeting – membership shall consist of women who legally own and operate their own motorcycle or one belonging to a family member. Informal meetings and get-togethers were held at various national and district events in many parts of the country.  At the 1946 convention, it was decided we needed someone to provide a link between the membership and the Executive Officers.  The State Director system was established.  State Directors are appointed by the President and are responsible for keeping their area membership active and informed.  They are also responsible for hostessing at least one get-together every year.  In the early 90’s, State Director was changed to District Director as the membership became divided into District

We strive for divine excellence as independent, strong-willed, versatile, and family-oriented business minded women which contradicts the stereotypes that downgrades the image of female riders.

Leather & Lace MC

Image
Jennifer Chaffin founded Leather & Lace in 1983. It began when a group of caring women riders wanted to help children. Leather & Lace is proud to have chapters and full members all over the United States and beyond that share the goals and enthusiasm of their founders. The name says it all. “Leather” stands for the inner strength we possess as women, and the physical strength we demonstrate in handling our machines. “Lace” stands for our femininity, an intimate and important part of us all.

These female motorcyclists are on a mission. The roar of a motorcycle engine in Kigali, Rwanda’s hilly capital city, is as ubiquitous a sound as birds singing at dawn, the chatter of schoolchildren walking to class and the drumming of rain as it bounces between roofs during the wet season.
